Hey, I'm Natan Kramskiy

My mission is to make science more accessible and digestible for all.

I created this platform to document my journey in the scientific world and share insights and findings as I learn new topics and career paths. I want to show that biology and technology are not as daunting as they may seem and to highlight the exciting developments they hold for everyone. In watching my journey as I learn new things and build projects, I hope I can both educate others and show that science is not as daunting as it seems, and that anyone can become knowledgable and eventually make an impact.

Background

I am currently a senior attending Riverdale Country School in New York City, interested in all things science related but especially biotechnology. I first piqued an interest in science after working in an endocrinology research lab at Mount Sinai during my freshman summer. I was able to work with mice, cells, and formulations first hand and truly experience science. I realized in this moment that anyone can really get involved in science; I joined that summer not knowing how to use any tools and came out knowing at least the basics and how to use a couple of them.

The content on this page will be in three flavors

My most frequent type of content will be in the form of articles, summarizing research that I am especially keen on and think will be important for our future. This is both my way of learning about new topics but also a way for me to teach others about it as well.

I primarily write about bioRxiv preprints and Nature papers. I write about preprints because that research is months or years away from making it to a journal so I am keeping up with the trends and not writing about them months after they happened.

Conversely, I also include some papers from Nature in my work because that is often the most exciting and promising research, even if it happened a couple of months ago. In this way, I can cover both the most exciting developments right now and the overall trends that have been occuring.

Finally, some of my articles will also be based on content that I have read from other blog sites. Mainly, I base a lot of my content from The Century of Biology and Decoding Bio, which are excellent sites and are definitely worth checking out. They have truly served as an amazing inspiration.

The second type will be in the form of interviews, where I will highlight the story of people in the scientific space and how they got to where they are now. I think that this is a great way to learn what you can do in science and also how there is not one traditional path to get into the space. These interviews will usually be summarizes; however, I will occasionally include full unedited videos of the conversation.

The last piece of content is projects that I have been working on. This is not only an alternative way to teach you about topics that I am super passionate about, but to also show how anyone can build in science. Hopefully you are inspired to build your own projects after reading what I have done.

My goal is to put out at least one piece (article/interview/project) a month.
